BAKER CITY ROTARY CLUB
The annual Rotary Scholarship is established to assist two Baker High School graduating seniors in attending an institution of higher learning of their choice. The scholarships will be paid to the institution of higher learning of each student’s selection for payment of tuition, books, room, and board. The scholarships will be awarded according to the following provisions.
The criteria for the Baker City Rotary Club Scholarship is as follows:
1. Grade point must be at least a “C” average.
2. Student must be of mature judgment.
3. Student must have demonstrated leadership ability and service to others.
4. Student must be a person with diversified interests, such as: student government, school activities, committee work, organization involvement, work experience, and athletics.
5. Student must be personable and of high moral character and standing.
6. Student must show continuity between personal preparation and life’s goals.
The selection procedures are as follows:
1. The individual scholarship committee members will identify the top five applicants.
2. The scholarship committee will meet and discuss the top applicants as identified by the individual committee members.
3. The scholarship committee will vote on the top five applicants as identified by the committee.
4. Voting will be by a numerical basis - 1 being highest and 5 being lowest. The two applicants receiving the lowest totals will be awarded the Baker City Rotary Scholarships in the amount of $750.00 each.
The deadline for receipt of completed applications is Thursday, April 20th, 2006 at 4 p.m. The completed application must be submitted to the Baker High School guidance office. 2. Submit a 100 word essay on what “Service Above Self” means to you.
3. Submit a 200 word essay on how your activities and experiences have allowed you to serve others, what this service has meant to you, and how it has affected others.
4. Submit a 100 word essay on your academic and life goals and how you have prepared for them.
5. Submit an unofficial transcript.
6. Submit a high school resume of activities and achievements, such as: student government, school activities, committee work, organization involvement, work experience, and athletics.
7. Submit two sealed letters of recommendation.
The deadline for receipt of completed applications is Thursday, April 20th, 2006 at 4 p.m. The completed application must be submitted to the Baker High School guidance office.
